Help w/ Engine #'s
I'm trying to determine what engine is in my dad's 911.
The verticle numbers look like *63D5//64 The horizontal ones are 930 10 Thanks- Craig Backer |
Those numbers don't look right. The engine # does not have letters in it. The 63 might be right but the next number is important. The last 4 are the sequential serial number.
The 930 might be right but the 10 part doesn't jive either. Can you have another look. Use a flashlight and someWd or something to clean the numbers up. The first 930's were in '76 and started with 686 but the engine type was 930/51. It is a turbo, but what year is yet to be determined. |
I actually did use some brake clean and sandpaper. I then parked it in the bright sunlight. Pretty positive on the numbers.
The engine is a 3.0 and is suspected to ROW. Thanks- Craig Backer |
closest I can find is a 64Dxxxx which is a 930/16 which is a non-turbo 3.0 SC. How about the VIN?

What I'm basically trying to figure out is whether this is a us or row engine. Thanks- Craig Backer |
a 930/10 is indeed a ROW 3.0
9.8 CR, big intake ports, 204hp |

I have one in my '68. TT |
Thanks guys. Do these engines run similiar heads and intake to those of the 78-79 usa engines?

But the CR is lower on the US. 8.6 : 1 Me thinks. The Bosch FD and WUR are slightly different but compatible. Do you still have the pump? |
What pump?
|
The US '78-'79 have a big air pump for emission control.
Not sure if the Euro's had one? |
