Post Your Vintage Racing Paint Schemes Here
I hope to go to paint with the 69E in early May. Original color is silver on black with one bad respray. I'm giong to just block it down to factory paint and spray over that.
I want the car to be a little different and have developed a whole story around it: in summary, what would some French guy build/drive in 1973 if he wanted to take his car to the track/road rally on weekends, picking up some hot chic the Friday night before for dinner on the town. Obsessive? Yes! Anyway, my scheme on the table now is Light Ivory front S bumper, 6x7x15 cookie cutters and rear bumper; strip and bumperette delete. Body will be Aga Blue, welding up the gas tank and antenna holes. And since it's French, yellow H1 lenses in chrome rings. White PORSCHE script on the side and decklid. But perhaps there's something better out there? And thanks David (Argeo) for helping me see the light. Here's Aga Blue. Below are some pics I found googling around. Please post anything similar, from mild to wild, stripes, etc. Thanks! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I've always like this color scheme, regardless of the colors chosen...most of the car is one color, and the hood/roof/decklid are another.

..but maybe with wider stripes? (I love the dark and light silvers together.)

Thanks Guys for all the great pics. Chad, that is one hell of a collection you've got!
So I've got 2 schemes I'm going to *try* to Photoshop: Aga Blue body Light Ivory front bumper below the trim, wheels, rear bumpers below the trim But as Everyone has posted a pic of this type, an Aga Blue body with Light Ivory hood, roof and decklid could be a great way to go. Thanks again! Will post results, for better or worse. PS: Doug, that slate gray car has been a personal favorite of mine forever. If I had a deep red interior, that would be the color.

Hey Eric, yes, that's one of the schemes, thank you! And with that, I think I'm going to go Ivory on the hood, roof, decklid panels and wheels.
grill is packed and will go out tomorrow. ![]()

Me? I like this color scheme for an "early racer". It's racy, but also accentuates the lines of the 911. (..speaking purely aesthetically..)

Personally, I love it! Thank you for knocking out the scheme.
With white cookie cutters, it will look great, and I think decals will be critical to the overall look. Wondering now if white below the bumper trim would work or be too much. Probably too much. Need to start ordering paint.

I think with that scheme, white below the bumpers would be too much, yes. But a nice white PORSCHE script with a white line around (where the trim usually goes) would probably be just the ticket!
The first one Jim posted would pretty much be it, only with a lighter, grayer blue. I'll see if I can work some mojo on that one...

Shaun, with Aga Blue as your base color, you might opt for a nice crisp white like GP White instead of Ivory, or even Light Ivory. Otherwise, your color scheme might look a bit washed out. Just IMHO.
