Rear Deck latch won't catch

Any ideas??

I tried changing the tension on the release wire, but no go.

It seems that, when in the correct position, there is a "half-washer" that catchs, but I can't get mine to do that now.

Please give a new brother a hand.

Bill

Did you change anything (new weatherstripping ,etc.)? Besides adjusting the "half-washer" (viewed when looking down the hole in the latch - female part), you may also have to adjust the "spear" (male part) that goes into the hole. This is adjusted by screwing in/out (hmm...I hope this isn't too graphic for a family-rated forum). Sometimes the "half-washer" gets gunked up and won't release completely. 1/16th of an inch out-of-whack will cause a failure to "hook up". Try spraying the female part with lubricant. (Vodka martini's usually do the trick for me)...

I had the same issue when trying to get my lid to close tighter. I did a search here and found an article describing the procedure in detail. Everything works great, now.

Well, I tried lubricant. No go.

How taut shoud the release wire be? And should the "half washer be visable when the deck is open?
