Has anyone weighed the full AC system?

I've done the search and found some big variances in weight listed for the AC system. My question is has anyone here personally weighed the full system - all the hard bits like compressor, condenser, etc. but also the hoses?

Car is an 82 SC. Thanks.

The AC system weights vary depending upon the year (compressors, etc. became lighter, etc.). On my Carrera, I weighed the box containing 'almost' everything (except the two Carrera footwell blowers), and it was a little over 50 lbs. I think I recall Pete Zimmerman (Rennlist) stating that the SC compressors weighed quite a bit more than mine.

I would guess when I removed the ac compressor from my 81 that it weighed 50lbs by itself. I was one heavy SOB. I am still in the process of removing the front condensor and the hoses so I can only guess on total weight of all components. My guess would be for my car 75lbs for everything.

Thumbs up Ac system weight

I pulled mine last year (79 SC), I have an old industrial digital scale with 500 lb capacity and resolution to 0.005 lbs. The entire system came in at 62 lbs including hoses and all hardware.

Sold by box of A/C parts from my 1983 SC on Ebay and needed to weigh it for shipping to the guy who bought it. Whole lot including hoses etc was 35kg.

Best performance improvement I can think of - someone paid me to make my car go faster.

Porsche spec book for 1975 quotes 35 kg - abt 80 lbs for the a / c system but doesn't say if it includes the front condensor.
HTH.

Cheers
Dennis
