There's a New Registry for 1965-73 Early 911's

https://early911registry.com

Just launched, a new online registry for early 911 cars and we'd like to encourage any owners to please submit their cars. This is a collaborative effort and we're hoping to provide the community with some cool tools as we scale. Right now you can search by VIN, model year, model, and a combination of model year and model but we're working on some advanced features to launch very soon. Soon you'll be able to search for all Polo red cars with a sunroof. Or view all 911S cars built between Jan 1 and Jan 30, 1969. Or search a range of engine numbers. The possibilities are endless and every car submitted is another piece of the puzzle. Thanks for reading.

Not to be confused with the existing https://www.early911sregistry.org/

Seems a bit...intentional, no?

Nah. No more than the myriad of other registries and websites out there like...

PCA Early 911 Register.

Besides, those guys have banned and driven away so many good and knowledgeable Porsche guys that we all needed a place to go. Plus, this is different. We've taken the time to create a real, online and searchable database for our early cars and that's new. It's gonna be very cool when we really start playing with the data.

That they have.
Let's hope the vultures are kept in check there.

Well done.

Is there an option to enter cars you know have gone to the graveyard, like 914 world has done? If so I’ve got a few vins to contribute.

One has to pay for the registry information on ESR. Dropping the "Ess" seems to be intentional so that it's obvious the site is inclusive for all models. While ESR is as well, it's not obvious to the newcomers and I've seen that often.

Also, there is a fair amount of History redaction over there and quite a bit of knowledge has been lost because the ESR owners caved to shall we say, perceived influential individuals being butt hurt.. Sad really.

ESR is experiencing self induced Entropy. It's nowhere as fun now as it was when I formally joined that forum nearly 20 years ago. "Club Members" really aren't.

I still hang out there cause I'm a stubborn Cuss. Looking forward to a new flavor though.

Thanks, Matt, and absolutely. In some ways those VIN's are even more valuable as they're harder to find and every piece of the puzzle helps. You can register both cars you own and cares you don't own at the bottom of this page:

https://early911registry.com/registry

We're scaling quickly and, as a data guy, I'm excited tp get to a point where we can enable some advanced searches for Porsche geeks (like me) who get off on that stuff.

just added one I currently own and a few I used to own... a couple of thoughts to consider...
under paint choice - for silver metallic you have 925 as the code, a lot of later 72 and 73 cars had code 936, but it isn't an option.
maybe add a spot for options from the factory - e.g. LSD, sport seats, factory AC, fuchs, etc, so real interesting data analysis could be done on % of cars with x, y, z variables could be determined.
on the build date - it forces a day, when many of the later cars only have month and year known...
cheers
D

Hey Gordon,

Can you tell me what trouble you had? We've had dozens of members submit multiple cars without issue but the site is new so of there's a bug I'm not aware of I'd sure like to know about it.

Thanks,

JP

Since you are collecting data why not engine numbers? People could find their missing engines!
