My RSR backdate

This is why I did not backdate my 993 to 73 RSR.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1177174171.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1177174246.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1177174277.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1177174317.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1177174342.jpg

What hood did you go with? Looks great.

DRV2FST 04-21-2007 10:04 AM

Wow, really authentic. Most people don't go the extra mile and add 20 years of dust. :)

How does that intercooler fit under the duck?

adomakin 04-21-2007 12:34 PM

yeah, whats the deal with your intercooler?

Im planning on running a full bay intercooler and just removing as much of the duck as is needed....i reckon it will look pretty cool.. plus the turbo will prob foul the rear bumper (or get it red hot!) so I was thinking about a cut out in that area too... whats your plans?

I was wondering the same thing.

Hey Folks

Sorry for the confusion but this car is not getting the turbo engine. Instead, it will have a 964 3.6 engine so no intercooler fitment issue.

Ask Paul Kramer how he does it...

Jeff Alton 04-21-2007 08:03 PM

There are few turbo intercoolers under ducktails on this board.....

Cheers

I may have seen his... I have seen at least one done, but I was just curious how DV was going to do his. But now, it appears to be a moot point.

So why are you dumping the Turbo motor? (...did I miss that somewhere?) Not critiquing, just curious.

(..how do you spell critiquing?)

DV 993tt 04-22-2007 07:29 AM

Doug

I'm dumping the turbo motor because I want something different. I want to lose the lag of the turbo and replace it with more immediate response from a NA motor.

Tired of all of the power?

Seriously have you tired a K27 with aftermarket headers? That setup seems to eliminate almost all of the lag.

DV 993tt 04-22-2007 09:18 AM

That's right! Tired of all the power. Although I have not tried a K27, I did have a fast spooling Garrett and custom headers. I've come to realize that driving is not all about power. A turbo is great for straight line driving like a freeway, however, my prefered venue is in the mountains. Also my local track is short and tight. I feel that natural aspiration is better suited for my application. Besides, I have another 911 for when I want "all the power".

Doug&Julie 04-22-2007 10:45 AM

Cool. Can't wait to see the finished product.

With all due respect, leaving the car a turbo WOULD be different.

3.6 swaps have offically jumped the shark.

DV 993tt 04-22-2007 08:03 PM

I've had the turbo for some time and I want something new. I could care less about being different from or similar to everybody else.

LOL, post of the day!

Facey 04-24-2007 11:17 AM

i don't even know what 'jump the shark' means.... however i have noticed that 9 out of every 10 regular racers here on the forum are running a pre-89 911 with a 3.6 stuffed in back...so there is some real support for this engine and its characteristics.

911teo 04-24-2007 11:37 AM

Dave
great stuff. Keep us posted... and IMHO youare doing the right thing with the NA engine vs Turbo decision!
