Red face hellp ....911 clutch problem

Just happend to me the clutch in my 83 911sc went straight to the floor at a light .
managed to get it to roll back into empty park spcae
any ideas????does this car have a hydraulic clutch..
also noticed when i pull up on the clutch by hand it seems to make a thunking noise near or under the gear box..

looked at the fluid in some resorvoir? and it was pretty low could that be the problem .. or where is the clutch resorvoir .. if so what fluid do i need...
Please help not the way i want to spend a saturday
Any ideas would b great..

You do not have a hydralic clutch. Check your clutch cable. If not, it could be your throwout bearing.

Do a search for clutch cable and clutch pedal pin. Sounds to me like one of these have broke.

You got a cable clutch, no fluid to check, and there are many culprits:

1. Busted cable
2. Busted cable mounting places (various)
3. Busted spring at the gear box
4. Busted pedal boxes.

And those are the easy ones.

The hard ones are inside the tranny.

Depending on your level of skills, you can fix this.

While you're at it, you may want to raise the level of the fluid in your master brake cylinder; or better yet, do a complete bleed and replace the fluid if its older than a year or two.

If everything check as yelcab list, you may have the broken fork inside the T.O. bearing, it happen to me once.
