Cone Vs Flat Filter on a 3.2
Fabspeed have an open filter cover for a flt filter and claim that flat filters work better than pod/cone filters.
What is peoples experience with this? Matt

The stock filter has been proven to flow more air than the engine can use. In short, the intake is not a choke point, and offers no improvement on a stock engine.

Re: Cone Vs Flat Filter on a 3.2
I pondered this changeover for the aesthetic and space-saving reasons as well.....
I ended up chopping off the air intake horn just leaving the square frame to hold the air filter in place. Here's a thread that shows the piece with drill holes. "Airbox Mod" for 3.2L It sounds great! Cheers, Kato Quote:

I have had a k&n cone on my 3.2 for a couple of years. Installing the cone uncluttered the right side very nicely. It is a little louder than the stock airbox. I can hear occasional suction type noises when accelerating.
In both stock airbox and cone setups the air gets pulled in basically from the engine compartment. Would it not be more beneficial to get cooler outside air with a cold air kit? I haven't seen one for a 3.2... jt -84 targa |

//Found that the stock airbox draws cooler air than the cones.//
Is that because the cone intake sits in the forward corner of the engine compartment where the air could be hotter that where the stock box draws air in? I dunno -- performance is the #1 concern but it sure is nice to get to the right side plugs more easily without the stock box in place. jt |
