My first lil' projects on me new 911.
Well I had to replace the speakers in the rear deck. You can see they were completely blown and torn.
After looking around and trying a couple of sizes, I ended up on the larger side of things with Sony 6x9s. They to be large enough to cover the existing holes and perforated leather. The obstacle that I ran into was the 6x9s were much deeper with the size of the magnet on the back of the speaker. When I first installed them it made the rear deck lid lift up against the rear glass and made a gap towards the back. Sooooo, I got the jigsaw out and used some wood to make these adapter rings that fit between the speaker and the deck. Used some semi-gloss black paint on the rings and the speaker frame itself so it would match and I think it worked pretty well. My only complaints is that there is a gap that is a little larger that I'd like between the two pieces and WOW they look big back there on such a small deck. My other little thing was I got some rear lap belts from Steve930TT, thanks and put those back in. PO must have removed them. I'm not mechanically inclined so much, so it's going to be baby steps. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Looks like a nice job, I like the colour of the interior.
I've got the most bang up to date sound system in my porker. Its got a good sony CD head unit, and 8 speakers strategically hidded around the interior complete with 2 amplifiers up in the front trunk. Guess what! I hardly ever use it, every time I turn it on when on the road, I usually turn it off soon after as I cant hear the rumble, purs' and roar's of my flat six motor with twin outlet stainless rear muffler. You just cant beat that sound.

Thanks guys. It sounds pretty decent but I think that the speakers so close to the rear window puts a damper on the sound. The car came with a Alpine receiver and some nice sounding Polk Audio 61/2" in the doors.
As far as never listening to the stereo only the engine. I like a combo of both sometimes. What can I say I'm an occasional drummer and have always been into music. ![]()
