Air Flow Sensor (flapper Valve)
I can't recall where but isn't there a procedure for cleaning the electrical contacts on the AFS, for a 3.2 motronic. I seem to remember someone on this board having one apart. How do you disassemble it and what procedure did you use to clean the contacts?

somewhat related and maybe not necessary - when I took my MAF apart I cleaned and reassembled with non outgassing rtv. You don't really want to use standard rtv, the fumes can start corrosion on electronical ;-) components... GE sells the proper stuff...needs to be refridgerated/etc. you can google it and find it somewhere...RJ Huges (?) in Sunnyvale/Santa Clara had it.
in any case I would just clean the "carbon" surface of the track with alcohol and maybe just try slipping some anti-lint cloth under the "feelers". I didn't remember finding much in the way of debris or build up on the track or contacts. I only had 75k miles at the time. see what others say... but while you are in there you may want to offset the board to start a new track, I probably should have done that but didn't...because of my low miles. that's my 2 cents... again see what others say.. |

ok, could be my error.. I thought I read somewhere someone elongated the holes to move the board.. memory is fuzzy on this... thanks
