looks purposeful for a track car and I like it. ...hate it as street car. the paint scheme's gotta go.

Ok, but think about why they must have done it. Speedster=lower windshield= less frontal area. That top is certainly not removeable, unlike the Strosek car, (no rear fender inlets either.).
I think its a nice way to use the existing rules to give yourself a little 'edge' in top speed. Thumbs up!

The Porsche GT1 race car used the speedster windshield and a roof that is similar to this one (with the allowance for a scoop and mid engine cover etc) so these guys are on the right track for a lower cf racer. It is different looking, but effective

Looking at the A post I am not sure they used a regular speedster front wind screen.

Are there any tests out there of drag coefficients of speedsters vs hardtops?

Hey !!!! That's my car !!!

in fact, it's my former car, i've sold it 2 years ago....

this pictures have been taken in the paddock of Le Mans race track.

it's a real racer, it has been designed by AD Sport in Belgium to be raced in national championship (belcar)

the basis is 964 speedster.
body work is full carbon 993 GT2.
roof is strosek factory build
engine is 3.6L 3.8L (365, 390 BHP)
993 six speed gearbox with LSD
weight is 920kg (2000lbs)
wheel/tire : 18" 265 Front, 18" 305 Rear

this car is very fast. (but not enough)

the design of the roof is not very good for aerodynamics (a lot of venturies are generated (décollement de la couche limite en français)) due to that, the rear wing has to be more inclinated, then the drag is more important. that's the reason why the top speed is not as good as possible (285 KPH)
the other problem of this car, is that roof not allow to install full welded rollcage. then a more powerfull engine (twin turbo 500hp) is not possible because the chassis will not support it...

if you have more questions......

Sometimes racing improves the breed.....but to my eye, this got hit with the ugly hammer. The "signiture" line on a 911 has always been the rear window curve as it turns up into the C pillar. Lose that, and you lose the car to my eye. This is one fugly beast, sorry. IMHO, of course, LOL.

You'd think Chris Bangle works for Strosek...

Ouch! At least Bangle designs resolve! (You don't have to like 'em, but there are far worse out there. I think people object so much to the Bangle era cars because most BMWs before that were very very well balanced and proportioned)
