BMW Roundel Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera Diagnostic Tool?

I am searching for some sort of hardware Diagnostic Tool for use with my 1986 3.2 Carrera.

I have looked at:

ScanTools
AutoEnginuity
ScanGauge
OBD-II Standards

I know that what I am searching for is, in all likelyhood an OBD-I aftermarket scaner/reader. The connector for the 'brain box' is a 35-pin out test harness (Porsche OEM 00072195430) which, I believe, is *not* in any way compatable with OBD-II reader/scanners which I have looked at.

My question is this: What devices, if any, are available to diagnos my 1986 Vehicle?

I believe the hammer is for the 964 and later cars. There is not a port on a 3.2 to plug a tool in. You need a manual and multimeter to test all of the components...

Cheers

There is no scanner tool for the 3.2L ('84-89) 911.

I've put over 160K miles on my '85. It has never failed California smog test (now at 178K) including a dyno test few weeks ago.

Maintenance the "old fashion way" ...you learn it...

Overall I have found the ignition/fuel/DME quite reliable and tolerant. Sure some injectors got clogged, a DME relay went bad once, O2 sensor was dead for probably 80K miles , all with original cat. I even neglected things like plugs, valve adjust, and dist. cap and it still passed.
