World's Cheapest Switch Repair
I have been having problems with my full throttle switch (it wasn't working). I was simply going to replace it, but thought I would try and fix it before ordering a new one. Suspecting that the contacts may simply be dirty, I drilled a small hole in the switch housing just above where the connector attaches and another small hole down at the bottom of the housing (with the switch still mounted to the throttle body in the car) and the inserted the spray wand of a can of tuner cleaner and hosed it out really good.
It works perfectly now.

Excellent. Will you now plug the holes? One more question before I put this in my bag of tricks: Did you test the spray on the outside of the switch to see if if attacks the plastic? Some of the sprays I have dissolve plastic.

That's the same fix I use on old heater blower motors.
Glad you're back in business. Any seat-of the-pants power increase in that formerly rich spot? Let me know when you plan to do another dyno run, I'm very curious to see what the differences are on paper.

Milt - as it turns out the upper hole is covered when the connector is re-installed, but I'll need to do something to cover the lower hole. The holes are very small, though, so worst case I end up whipping out the tuner cleaner again. I did not test the spray on the plastic. This "tuner cleaner" is the same stuff I used to coat TV tuners with (plenty of plastic around), so hopefully it won't be an issue. I'll report back if there are any adverse affects.
Brian - I have not had a chance to put it on the butt dyno yet. I am hoping to feel the extra 10-15 hp (per Steve W) I should see now that it is working. I would like to dyno the car again, also to make sure everything is OK. I need to holler at Art...
