Chuck, You will need a different oil line if you plan on running headers with boxes (heat) and back dating parts. Not sure if you still have heat provided by a fan or if the air is pushed by the fan on the engine.
The headers/ muffler is not a hard job usually. Don't know about the rest as I don't have heat.

Chuck, am going to the high country this weekend, (LOOK OUT TROUT!!!) and leave the valley for the summer. When are you planning on doing the conversion?
Figure out which exhaust system you are going with and ask the manufacturer which oil line(s) need to be replaced. FWIW, I run a GHL 2/2 in/out muffler coming off of (brand?) headers. If you like the sound of my car, That's what you will get from GHL. I have a very loud resonance at 3100 RPM which is cruising speed. This doesn't bother me because I am only "cruising" to and from the track, otherwise it's WOT. Like I stated before, You may want to call Ben at M&K and see if he makes a set-up that suits your needs. He may be able to address the resonance issue since you will be driving on the street and will see 3100 quite often.

jeff.............trout???? all summer??? wow! i wanna go! san juan scuds and puff balls are cocked and loaded on my fly rod!
remember when pup gets nailed by SKUNK! buy about 12 cans tomato juice(v-8) and give dog bath in it to get rid of smell. when am i going to do conversion? good question???? probably when its 118 degrees and 70 % humidity. i always function better with sweat dripping down my glasses. dont really know yet. gonna call ben and see what he offers and just kind of digest all the info. really dont want to pull trigger on something i cant use down the road when/if i puke the motor. unlike my younger years i try and look at all the variables, instead of just jumping into it. would really like to go with conversion that will allow flexibility to a built euro 3.2,3.4, or even a 3.6 if possible down the road. |

Charles-
With regard to the install, it is pretty straightforward, but there is a risk of snapping the exhaust studs. Soak them in plenty of PB Blaster for about a week and if you encounter a stubborn nut use heat and be gentle. I'm not sure what length the studs are on a Carrera (different years use different lengths), but I had to install longer exhaust studs to accommodate the thick flanges on the 993 HEs. I ended up snapping only 4 studs...it was hell. I don't think this is an issue with GHL heater boxes. |

"probably when its 118 degrees and 70 % humidity."
Sounds like when I'll be back in town. Got to get the kids back in school first part of August. Why in God's name they have to start school in August in Arizona is beyond me. Trout- Will be in Northern Az first part of summer (and this weekend) and then Utah and other parts of the west in July. Good fishing to be had!!!
