Porsche Crest Does this 915/62 have LSD??

Anyone know how to decifer Trans #'s for a LSD?

I found hints here and there but nothing definative...

My #'s from bottom of Trans: 915/62 731 0964

Ive heard that if there is a "12" it is a LSD example: 915/63/12 true???

But there isn't enough room for additional 3's on the tab under my trans??

I know if both wheels are off the ground and you rotate one wheel forward and BOTH wheels travel forward in the same direction you have a LSD...

Anyone have a rescource to decode these numbers?

Thanks!!

Yes a '12' stamped in a slightly different front tells you that you have a factory LSD

Slightly different "font"? in the same location as the 915/62?
As opposed to being stamped elsewhere on the trans?

Thanks Fishcop

BTW my uncle retired from air trafic control "down under" and spends his retirement as a sport fishing guide! We visit every 3-5 years, love it there!!

Yep, on mine the "12" almost appears like an after thought stamp. Maybe that is why it is in a different font; it is stamped later in the process?

Look in this thread for an example:

Sorry, I missed that you get over here now and then... If you end up in Brisbane some time, give me a shout. I used to work as a fisheries and game investigator here in Queensland, where does he guide?

John, he lives just outside Brisbane, and has a little 2nd home just south of Queensland! Go figure! We are actually working on bringing a Motorhome and 1969 911 over there sometime in '08.... For some reason he is convinced my 1995 Motorhome is worth the cost to get down to the Land of Aus...

We would love to have lunch with another Porsche fanatic!

I'll blow the froth off a coldie any time you're ready

In regards to the motor-home; he's probably right. Good ones are hard to get here and they cost a small fortune. It would need to be converted to right hand drive if it stayed though. The 69 can be registered and driven here in left hand drive format and registration is very cheap. I pay $160 Aussie dollars per year for rego on my old beastie.
