Unhappy HELP...Need measurement

Well...the old saying "measure twice..cut once" totally slipped my mind.

Here is the issue..I did a great job cutting the parts out of my project 77' 911 carrera which were rusted...but my ambition got me way ahead of myself.

I need the measurements for the back window frame of a carrera (see picture). The measurements written in yellow were taken after the package tray was removed (once i figured out what I had done )and the frame had 1/2" of deflection/wobble in it so they can't be trusted.

I am ready to start welding, but really don't want to potentially have new glass and seals made for my car.

I need help if you've got a tub/project and a tape measure. The measurement I need is from the seal lip center line and 9" to either side of center (sorry i suck at photoshop!)

If your in Houston and can Help... I owe ya a 12pack of your favorite brew!!

Thanks in Advance,
HelmetHead

Duke...I appreciate your rapid reply and measurements!!

When I measured the frame (after cutting the package tray) I also noticed the distance for right and left side of center were not the same distance??

Since I plan on welding tomorrow if anyone else can chime in with measurements I will take anything I can get and average them prior to welding.

Thanks again,
HelmetHead

If you have the glass, couldn't you use it as a reference and add xx amount to leave room for the rubber seal. This would help to back up all the other measurements.

Just a thought

Thanks Goth.... I got the glass, but no seal since the window was out when I bought the car.... perhaps the width of the seal would help and I could work backwards from there?

You got a seal laying around you could measure?

by the way, the measurements Duke Zink posted are exactly where its sitting now..... Perhaps i'm not as far off as I thought?

Thanks to all who replied....guess i'll go with where I am (Duke's measurement)

I am still concerned that the left and right side are different...anyone got a tape measure handy this morning with their window removed???

Thanks,

They are only 1/8" different, don't expect that dimension to be held tighter than +/- 1/16" in the factory, and you have compliance in your seal. I am pretty sure either dimension would be close enough for what you are doing.

Many thanks to Chris, Hal and Skip at M&M on the West side of town!!!

Hal's car was available for me to measure the opening and make a foamboard template for precise window dimensions.

Not only did I get my measurements, but I got to see some SWEET projects.... Hals' 74 IROC backdate project and that Pantera of Chris' are gonna be SICK!!!

Thanks again and don't be a stranger if down on the South side!!!

Cheers
