Comfort Package?
Anybody know what the comfort package consisted of on a '71 T?

Is that the auto-leveling pneumatic shocks/springs??? As opposed to the torsion bars?
Obviously, I am guessing.

It was a package consisting of 14" Fuchs wheels, 14" tyres, and the hydro dynamic self leveling Boge system that replaced both the shocks & front torsion bars.
Most were 86'd by the original owner as soon as they rode with a buddy that had the normal suspension, back in the day...

So, any idea of what would be entailed in conversion to normal suspension?

Brent I would be amazed if you still had the hydro-pneumatic suspension as they quit making replacement parts years ago. But if by some chance you do and want to convert to a torsion bar suspension then all you need to know is in this thread: boge self leveing shock swap?

Is this self-leveling?
Thanks for the link. What do you make of this?

While the significant issues of the “Comfort Package” was the Hydropneumatic struts, 5.5x14” Fuchs wheels and 185-85x14 tires; there were other. This suspension was also on every 911E of the period (’69-’71).
The A-arms didn’t have splines to accept torsion bars and lacked the bottom reinforcement on the arm. The cross member didn’t have the support for the torsion bar adjusting arm. The net result is the conversion to normal suspension required struts, A-arms, cross member, torsion bars, torsion bar lever arms (with hardware) and a bit more. Sad to say it was a very expensive conversion at the time. Almost every 911E and “Comfort Group” did the conversion. The good news was all had the aluminum caliper 911S brakes. Changing the struts, A-arms, cross member, torsion bars and associated hardware made the front suspension identical to the 911S. We did hundreds of these conversions in period. I had a container with several hundred E-struts, A-arms and cross members. Long gone. Best, Grady
