My First 911 Carrera - With Pics!
Just got my new (to me) '86 Carrera. I've owned several 911s over the years, a 84 Turbo (turbo had a problem so I had to sell it), '83 911SC, and 1970 911T.
This is by the far the most modern, with plenty of power, response, and comfort. It's a European model. Can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can put the top down! I was considering a 1990-1994 for a while. However, after driving several of them, I decided to go with a 84-89 Carrera. I prefer the styling (exterior and interior) of these cars and without all the complications and "gadgets" of the later 911s. ![]() Here are some pics. Very nice indeed! Carrera is good, ROW even better. But it still have to wear those enormous rear bumper pads ?

Looks great. Classic color too. RoW is a plus in my book too. It's funny they left the rear fog but replaced the rear bumper with the US bumper when it was federalized (maybe not?). My bumper wasn't replaced, but the rear fog was removed. I guess it all depends on who federalized it.
Later, Mike

Nothing beats a top down 3.2. The sound is intoxicating. Enjoy it.

congrats..a silver cab looks great. your buying criteria is sound..i'm still struggling with all the electronics having moved up from a '74 to a '90...but i almost moved up to a 993. glad i didn't move up anymore in complexity than i already have from a diy standpoint.

Nice looking car. Get a spare DME relay and keep it in your glove box.
