Can 1 3/4 headers handle 400HP?

Any opinions on whether our host's 1.75" headers will effectively handle 400 supercharged hp coming out of SC heads?

thanks

950 hp will run out 1.75 headers but why would you do that? you would benefit greatly with custom made headers that are dyno tested for your setup Cheers Chuck

Hi Chuck,

I am admittedly no expert on boosted engines or exhausts either. This is my first boosted project. I am asking the question because a highly-respected shop here known for their distain of others' work took a look at my bursch headers into the 2-in 2-out flowmaster on my 3.0 track setup and said "that's exactly what we'd do." So I am thinking about the big bursch headers into the same or Ben's "Stingers" on this project but seeking broader input. Corky Bell's book plainly and directly says on a supercharged engine the "scavenging" benefits helpful on NA engines isn't important on these engines. He says just get backpressure as low as possible, that equal-length headers etc aren't worthwhile.

Any suggestions how a custom system might differ from a bursch-into-stinger or bursch-into-flowmaster setup for a supercharged 3.2?

thanks Chuck and others

john
