Hello and Convertible tops

I would like to say hi to all my fellow Porsche enthusiasts. I'm new to two things. 911's and computer forums.
I acquired my car with the sudden passing of my brother in law. He began dismantling the car before his death and I bought it from his estate in it's current condition.
I know very little about the car and Porsche's in general. I have a million questions and I'm looking forward to being a member of the Pelican community to have them answered. My first question is where can I get a decent parts diagram of the convertible top frame? I do not think I have all the parts.
I have included two pics of my new pride and joy. One is before my brother in law started to take it apart.. the other is it;s current condition in my garage.

Sorry about the pics. I had trouble uploading them

Welcome to the board and to 911s. WARNING: It's an addiction. You may find yourself just going into the garage for no reason whatsoever to just look at the car. You will find yourself just sitting in the car with no explanation how you got there.

MFNTX 05-13-2007 06:24 PM

your right about looking at it. i still haven't use my car cover because i like looking at mine when i pull in the garage.

Bertstoy 05-13-2007 06:40 PM

thanks for the welcome. I'm already there with the addiction guys. I can hardly wait to sit in it when it at least has doors.

I had no idea the convertible was made as early as 81. I thought it started nearer 83. In anycase, Pelican has lots of parts diagrams. I found thses that might help you:

Now the fun begins. Apply for all the credit cards you can get!

You'll really enjoy the Pelican community.
Stay away from OT(off Topic). The people there are crazy... but funny

You own a nice group of cars. Do you do the work on the MG?

Welcome aboard Bertstoy...we can't wait anymore to see some pics of that 911...

Bertstoy 05-14-2007 03:43 AM

Thanks again for your help and just being there. I'm from centeral Alberta Canada and want to meet with like minded Porsche people.
The british cars are much easier to work with than my first step into the 911 world. By the way the MG dose not need much for work It's a 79 with only 30k miles.
By the way any one know how I can edit my profile with my location?

Bertstoy 05-14-2007 04:13 AM

I'll Try my pics againhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1179144386.jpg
This is it before my Brother in law took it apart. for some reason I can not send a pic of it's current condition. It appears the files are too large to down load

Nice car!

For photo editing (Files tooo big is a common posting problem) I use IrfanView to resize and modify. It's a great program, capable but simple, and it's a free download. Go to Irfanview.com and just download it. You'll be up and running on it in no time.

Bertstoy 05-14-2007 07:21 AM

Thanks for the help on the profile edit. I will try the the program you suggested and reduce the picture size.

Bertstoy 06-02-2007 05:21 PM

Hi V8... Not sure what subd means?

BReyes 06-02-2007 05:57 PM

Hello. It is a labor of love. May your investment pay off.

You'll have available lots of help from guys on this forum, and alot depends on your patience. You will benefit from a local pro to do your CIS and AC. The top on the 81 is easy unless they installed one with a motor.

Regards,
