No home based maintenance automatically voids any warranty. And, yes, dealers are outrages on their costs. A 60K service on a Boxster or 996 will involve changing the brake fluid amongst many other items at a significant price. We can all mostly do a lot of this stuff ourselves.

If your dealer gives you any warranty crap then use the following words in a sentence: Magnusen-Moss, my lawyer, and State Attorney-General's Consumer Protection Division.

Throwing in uncle, cousin, or brother will be be fun too.

To protect your warranty, keep all receipts for parts and keep a record of date and miles that the work was done.

Ok, so does it REALLY void the warranty ? OR is it an intimidation thing? Is that legal ? BTW, this is a Canadian car ( you can't believe the extra $$ they get up there for taxes etc ... )

Esp. in Canada, the warrantor must prove in court that your actions caused the specifice damage involved in the warrantee claim in order to void the warrantee. This almost never happens.

Change the oil for her, it might get you some points.....

- No.

OR is it an intimidation thing?
- Yes.

Is that legal ?
- Perhaps not - how are you going to prove it? Did you tape record the conversation?

You could complain to the PCNA and to the FTC.

If you are in Canada, I dunno if any of that applies. Better find a local lawyer... think car service is important? try legal service?

Or find the govt's agency that deals with such things....

It'll be like the 928 forum, but with less activity.
