rough running MFI
Hi All,
I have a real problem with my 72 T with MFI. It was running kind of rough, hestitating during acceleration, idle was ok but rough. I checked the points, dwell was 35 % so ok. I checked the timing, again 5 % ATDC, again ok. Then I cleaned the enrichment disks on the mfi pumps. I made sure that the disks went back in exactly as they came out, I mean exactly. I've heard horror stories about that so i made sure. I started the car up again and it ran worst then before. It seems to run rich indicated by black smoke coming out of the exhaust. What did I do? Any suggestions as to what I need to look for to correct this problem. Now it runs rough if at all. Cant get it stared easily, but when it does start it runs rough, hard to keep idle at 900 rpm to 1000 rpm. Please help.

You did something wrong when you reinstalled the thermostat.
Remember WHEN IT GETS HOT IT GETS LONGER. Read the below threads and check the orientation of your discs and the rod length at temperature again. If it's rich, the rod is probably stuck so it can't stick out and lean the mixture out. That or you severed the hose somehow, so it's not heating up. Good luck!. MFI thermostat spacers MFI thermostat data. . . and distaster! MFI Thermostat Hose

mfi problem
John, thanks, it looks like being as careful as I thought I was, I installed the disks wrong. I am going to take it out again and compare the disk locations to the pictures in on of the threads maybe this will fix it. will report back shortly.
thanks again!!!
