What would u do ? I would like to get your opinion...
...on this matter. We are getting ready to take a long road trip west. California way, south and north as far as the wine valleys, then south east to Yosemite Park, Bishop, Vegas, The big dich, the G canyon, and then possibly north east to the colorado mountains, for some more twisties !!
All in all we have 3 weeks. I would like to ask your opinion on the following : 1. which wheels should i take on the road? 17 " Borbets with 205/50 and 255/40 sumitomos or 2. Fuchs 16's 225/50 and 245/45 w/ fuzion zr1 3. should I lower the car before the trip to at least euro specs.? with the 17's it sits 25 1/4f & 26 rear with 16's its 25 1/8 & 25 1/2 I like both wheels, the 17's ride a bit harder , with the low profile. Its silly I know !!! you have better things to do with your time !! in advance thanks for your input !! regards to all

Now in 993 land ...
|
Fuchs with the taller sidewall tires for a more comfy ride. I would not mess with the ride height if things are working well and reliable now.

+1 on the comfy ride. Rough riding cars tire me out faster.

Mostly freeway and highway right? You expect to have fun while driving right? You already know how "harsh" it is with 17". Lowed it and 17" for best handling and looking.

I agree with taller sidewalls. Are you driving all the way from Florida?
I was wondering why you sound so unfamiliar with California geography!! I would also like to recommend a gps nav system, such as a Magellin roadmate or Garmin. Best driving in Calif is probably Hwy 1/ Big Sur along the coast. |

I forgot to mantion, I lived in Cal. long time ago, San fernando valley, Sylmar, I was in the earthquake of 72 I think it was , well now u know I am a bit older than most of you !! I also forgot to mention the Hwy I liked the most was Hwy 1 to carmel. the other roads i often took with my then 69 camaro cab. was the road that lead to the L A mountains to go ski. Some of my best memories I have when living in the LA area. !!!! We also plan to be in LA the w/e of the 7/8th 2pm sunday Mulholand drive !! is a must. did I spell that right !??? ( : I actualy know California pretty well , it just has been a while ago !!! I think I will go with the Fuchs on this trip. I just thought I would get a little better gas milage with the 17's ?!! yes/no ?? We are realy looking forward to this adventure. Camping in some of the parks might be a plan also. all for now. see u soon !!
