Milt- I am sanding down to good paint, or metal in most cases it seems so far. Stripper is too messy, and this is thin enough to just D/A. pretty quick. Since your here, what have you used to block? The doors are the only flat panel? I have a adjustable flexible and was going to use that.
Deck lid has been cut for my wing, I wanted to leave the support for the latch intact.

Dweymer,
FWIW a long block with adhesive backed paper works best. The short 3mm block (4x6) is good for the curves. Wet sanding with 500 was good for my finish but I wish I would have done a little more wet sanding with the 500, I spent a day wet sanding by hand but wish I would have spent longer, I can still see small scratches in places through the clear coat. I hope that after I sand and buff the clear coat in places they will be harder to spot. Really you can hardly notice them and then only in certain light at specific angles. Also if you plan on using more than one coat then, plastic can be a bad thing, the paint flakes off it really bad, (you can see the flakes that came off my car on the picture below from the plastic) use paper as the paint will stick to it better in between coats. Guess I should have read Milts post first....the items referred to are the same as I was suggesting. Good luck ![]() ![]()

Sealer-you can see a few "tiger stripes" where my compressor kicked in and I did not adjust the gun.

Donnie, looks good. Now get out there and block, block, block (to quote Knute Rockne).
Tell us more about what paint system or systems you're using for the sealer, primer, color and clear (if you're doing base/clear). Brian |

I am using House of Kolor products for the entire car. I'll list product, color and qty when I'm done.

Thanks, it's handy for those of us contemplating diving into a new project to know the system used and other details (including likes and dislikes).

Funny how many small defects you see when put in the sun!

Donnie, you mentioned issues with your compressor. if you don't have one, I hghly suggest getting a regulator/water seperaator and putting that inline. You should have a tightly controlled supply of air and it has to be dry.
(If you are going HVLP, then ignore that , LOL()
