Puff of smoke during hard acceleration
Someone told me my car gives off a puff of smoke when I nail it. I just had a PPI done with excellent compression. What would cause this?
Thanks, Scott

Valve guides smoke seems to be more on decel, not that they don't present smoke on accel just more prevalent on decel. Hard accel smoke while somewhat normal could be mixture if its more blackish.
Sometimes when my timing was a wee to far advanced and the gas not premium I would get pinging and smoke from in complete mixture burn. Generally this happened when I was not in the proper gear but high enough in the range that at wot a gear change would have been hard. I would hear a slight clacking and then see the smoke from the rear. Resetting the timing and adjusting the mixture fixed the issue, plus running premium helped a bit. |
