How many 911's were produced in 1974?

I had a friend visiting, who questioned me about how many 911's were produced? He was especially interested in the seventies and early eighties...

I know I have read the numbers somewhere, but cannot find them now. I even searched the net, but to no avail...

Are these numbers anywhere near correct? (I am just guessing here!)
1974 about 11.000? And that 2500 were US-models?
1976 about 14.000?
1982 about 19.000?

I would like to be able to read out some facts to my friend...
And of course to myself!

Ole

all the numbers are located here: http://www.elferhelfer.com/fzident.htm#

Don't ask me to interpret German, but I think, for the most part you can figure it out.

The red book says that 9381 1974 911/S/Targas were built worldwide. Makes no mention of how many came to the US. In addition there were about 1500 ROW Carreras and 774 US Carreras.

Here's a translation of the first page:

The "secret" number with the old Porsche 911 gives it beside the FIN a further number, over which the vehicle can be identified perfectly: The production number. One finds you direct under the right knee border of the instrument panel on height of the radio pit. They see here 2 picture examples, which click you through also more largely regard can. Additionally this is up-painted with wax pin on the left side over the armature carrier. This applies at least to the old vehicles into the 70's. I assume this is with all Elfern to 1989 the case. One can read these naturally only if the instrument panel is developed and the color were not removed in the course of a restoration. The wachsfarbe again-stands i.Ue. several decades without serious effects, therefore this number is to be also found i.d.R.. In the available picture example it acts around 911 Targa out of the model 1972, Erstzulassung May 1972. The number is "112 3976". I know far examples of Elfern from 1972 and 1973, so that I could derive systematics. To which years of construction this systematics apply, I must find out only. The classification of this 7-digit number is thus my knowledge: 1.Ziffer: ??? probably it stands for Porsche 911, reliably is I here however not yet 2nd number: 0 = Coupe, 1 = Targa 3rd number: Model year, thus 2 stands for ' 72, 3 for ' 73 4.-7. Number: sequential number over all 911 of this model year. The 72er Targa is thus 3.976. produced 911 of the model 1972. It does not contain the number a key over the produced model because one did not know at the time of the production of the chassis yet whether it becomes a T an E, a S or R-S. J of each of these numbers is located however in connection to a certain chassis number. In the house Porsche can an additional identification be reached to in any case on the basis this number. One can inquire my knowledge this number at Porsche (probably against payment). For very exclusive and expensive vehicles like a 73er Carrera R-S should be absolutely examined this number. There are some falsifications on the market with the expensive vehicles, where e.g. the chassis number of accident R-S was welded into a 911T. For genuine R-S the production number always begins with 103xxxx. further examples: that is that 4267. Coupe of the model 73 (in the available example genuine R-S). this is the 4035. Targa of the model 71...
