Thoughts on Dansk Single Outlet Muffler
I currently have a stock exhaust system on my car and its, well, boring. I want something that sounds a little better. Budget is the main concern. I'm not looking for more horsepower - just better sound. I'm thinking about a Dansk single outlet muffler (little over $400). I've notice they also have a dual outlet. I don't want to modify my bumper for the dual. Do the single and dual sound the same? How does a Dansk sound overall? Will it make my car sound better?
Thanks, Scott

If you are going to spend $400, and you're not married, might as well spring for the M&K, in my opinion, and it will bolt right on with a new gasket... 30 minute job tops.
My 2 cents...

For around 150.00, you can set up a Flowmaster or similar style muffler. Any competant muffler should be able to fab up the tubes. I have a video of mine but can't seem to get it loaded to YouTube.

I have a Dansk one in one out OEM Sport. I replaced the cat and the original muffler. I love the new sound.

I have a Dansk with a fab speed sport cat. Sounds very groovy. Make sure you replace the cat with a premuffler or Sport Cat, that will really liven the sound up.
Now, if you are going to do that you might as well install a Steve Wong chip that is tuned for that setup. You wont be sorry, the power difference is night and day. Much more drivable. For me, its not really daily drivable with that setup. Not that I didn't do it for a year, but your body really takes a beating over a stock setup.

I replaced my stock muffler with the Dansk 1-in-1-out sport muffler. Frankly, I'm not impressed. I wanted more "growl," and the sport muffler just doesn't do it for me. At some point I'll replace it with an M&K.

Daniel: No, I wanted to keep the car legal so I kept the cat in place.

Scott,
At one time I owned an 83 Euro SC 3.0 204bhp. 1st, I purchased the bypass test pipe with the factory muffler. This may be all your're looking for. It is an easy swap to go back and forth when necessary. For me, I wanted more. I purchased and tried: -Bursch Carrera 1-in 1-out....later fabbed 2 out -Monty 1 in 2-out -Borla 1-in 2 out twin tip -Dansk 1-in 2-out sport and I made several prototypes. This was done between 1994 thru 1999. Believe it or not, I was most happy with the Dansk. It had the best growl and burble on decel like a 930. Again, this was all possible with the CAT delete. Getting back to your desires. Since cost is a great factor...I would try the test pipe the factory muffler....and then go from there. The M&K was not available at the time. However, it all depends on how aggessive you want the car to sound. Everyone has their limits depending on their driving styles and neighborhood noise limitations. Best of luck.... Paul

Thanks for all the insights. I think I will do that cat by-pass first since I was going to do that anyway. Depending on how it sounds, I can always add on the Dansk later.

I know of two local enthusiasts who simply mod-ed the factory muffler by adding a second (right side) outlet. They found a competent muffler shop that cafefully cut the opening with a plasma cutter and welded on the 2nd pipe. Cost was < $100. Required cutting a 2nd opening in the lower valance; they trimmed it up with a Dremel. Sounds VERY nice, Deep rumble.
