1976 Porsche wheel questions

I have a 1976 Porsche 911s and was looking to put on a set of bbs oem Porsche wheels from a 2002 996 they are 17" my question is if anyone has put these on and are the offsets pretty close or way off.

Thanks
Luke

I mounted bbs 10-spoke 17*7 on my 76 (nb, no flares at all), but didn't drive with them (no tires). Close to the spring plate bolts, looked like ok clearance to the fenders in the rear. Front looked ok too.

Didn't have tires on them so not really conclusive.

Luke -- not optimal offsets, also suspect the rear width will be WAY off --

Way off

for a non Carrera/SC or M91 body, ie n/b 911 the base wheel is usually Fuchs 4 x6ET36 either 15 or 16. The easiest and best fitting Fuchs upgrade is 7ET23.3, 15 is best as you need to be concerned w/ tire OD, more so in back than in front. 205/55 x15 is a pretty good choice but some use 205/60, 215/60 is definitely too tall

thanks guys thats what i thought but figured id check with everyone on here, has anyone try to run aftermarket wheels on their 911s ? seen a bunch of pictures of some with them but finding the correct offset and 5 x130 pattern is near impossible without getting custom wheels made

For a 911 beside the OE Fuchs there are a number of replicas that look and funtion just fine. Check the Parts Catalog here at Pelican.

There have been recent discussions about wheel and tire fitments here. Do an advanced search for wheel with Bill Verburg as user name.

But for a '76 IMO just find some good used Fuchs either 6 or 7" wide either 15 or 16"diameter. Consider those an investment.
