Not that they are necessarily the same, but... my '73 has the wheel wells painted body color over the top of what appears to be an undercoating.

The folks at the Early S Registry BBS (http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/index.php) would be able to tell you.

Mark & Harry,
I just had my 71 media blasted to bare metal and painted. the underside was cleaned down to the undercoating (flexible pvc, i think) and getting ready for paint. I did post this same question on the early 911S Registry and the answer, so far.....is black for 71, changing to body color in 73.

thanks for taking the time to answer,

al

Thanks John. Yesterday, I was ready to go with the body color and thought to double check. I'm glad I did. This is my first longhood project, so i'm learning as I go.

regards,

al

My Signal Orange '71 911T had black wheelwells. I bought it in 1973, and it was as it was when it left the factory. Wish I still had it!
