Unhappy Really need advise now guys

I started having trouble with my 84 3.2 carrera back in March, she would surge on cold idle but then run fine when warm, the surging started to take longer to settle so I took her to a local sports car specialist who basically went over her and told me that the fuel regulator was u/s and possibly the motronic, I ordered the regulator and had the motronic checked for cold solder joints, I replaced the spark plugs and returned the car to the garage.
A couple of days later he rang me to say that the part I had got was the wrong part and that the car had dumped a load of fuel into the sump and would not start.
I went down to see him and he showed me the part he required which I said was the damper and not the regulator, but by this time I had lost confidence in him and arranged for the car to be trailered to another garage who I found on the internet and who claimed to be Bosch motronic and porsche specialists.
This garage has now had the car since April 14th and has just said that they cant find anything that specfically points to why the car wont start but are convinced that the motronic and the damper are not at fault, he has said he wants to replace the distributor cap and rotor, replace all the HT leads and maybe adjust the valve and cam timing but still cant guarantee it will start.
I am totally at my wits end with this and cant sleep for worrying about it, this guys seems to want me to say stuff it so he can buy the car as he is looking for 911's to break for spares. the car is actually my wife's inheritance and her pride and joy and she is breaking her heart over this.
I am not by any means rich, just a normal working guy with a young family and a huge mortgage, anyone out there with any suggestions as to what's maybe wrong with the car and what they think I should do, what would make this car dump it's fuel into the sump and not start.

Thanks guys in advance for any help.

I had a light surge when cold, most noticeable in 1st gear under light acceleration or steady throttle. Reading the threads on adjusting the wiper in the AFM I took my AFM apart and made the adjustment, I also found that the meddle pin that sits in the plastic gear teeth was sticking limiting the movement of the wiper arm. It could only open about 1/4 of the way and could not close all they way either. After sliding it back in place so it would move freely and putting back in the car the surge seems to have gone away, but then again the weather has also warmed up. But it is a cheap thing to try and takes about an hour to do not including silicone drying time.

Thats what I thought I had done but obviously not, the nearest other one is 100 miles away and a £400 GBP trailer ride.

If the CHT (Cylinder Head Temp) sensor is unplugged, that will make it dump a lot of fuel. It may, or, may not start (even with the gas pedal all the way to the floor).

This happened to me when I was working on the left (driver) side of the engine. I must have bumped the connector and it popped off.

BTW: I agree with those above about the shop. A good shop, familiar with P-cars should not be puzzled. After all, they have the car and should be equipped to run various tests.

Hope this helps

The CHT was disconnected just before it went in the garage as someone on here said to try that before I took the car to the garage. 3.2 still surging third post down

If the fuel was dumped in there when the CHT was disconnected then surely when the oil is changed the car should start?, and just go back to the eratic cold idle problem

If the valves are closed, the gas has no where to go.

That said: If you cranked the engine over with the gas pedal to the floor, I would think it would start up within the first 10 seconds or so.

BTW: Might want to make sure the pins inside the CHT connector didn't get pushed out.
