I remember that the tires had the Porsche crest groved into them, too cool. But IMO that was the highlight of the design. Like Johhny said though ... many future desing cues. I wonder what's next.

Design studies like that should be looked at as test beds for ideas more than complete and finished designs.

But I've got a pair of 'Porsche Design' Adidas sneakers that are kind of ugly. I'll call them a miss.

PD had an involvement with the Lada Samara too. I don't know how pig ugly it started out in Russia, or whether PD were simply told make it cheap to manufacture, but the result gets zero hubba hubba points from me.

i dunno- it looks better than a VW Fox, and if its 4wd- could make a cool roll over rally machine!

I was being paid to drive a 1300 Samara one day. The car hit a fairly tame bump in the road and the dash landed in my lap! I hear they take the dash out of the rally versions LOL

I think the Panamericana - that's the name - looks a lot better from the front.

Now, remember, I said "better" -- I did not say fabulouso. Go to Italy for that.

I was thinking a dentist or oral surgeon -- someone goes around and sews the mouth shut on a lot of different Porsches...

It was '89, just think about the clothes you were wearing. I bet you thought you looked so cool cruising around listening to Ace of Base.

Kidding right? I've been wearing the same clothes (sometimes) and definitively the same clothing types for decades.

The big innovations were Gore-tex & rubber sandals ("Tevas") - not at the same time...

Of course, that's just us backwoods folks in the Northwest...

I would say the 928 is one of the ugliest cars made by any manufacturer. Right up there with mid seventies AMC.

996 cab is pretty ugly too. We really want to like these cars, but time will not be so kind, I bet.

I was never a huge fan of the big plastic humpback on the 911 Speedster either, but now I'm probably really in the minority.
