83 cab - oil temp gauge question

I just got done reading over various old posts regarding modifying the non-numeric oil temp gauges to numeric. It looks like a couple of obvious possibilities are: 1. buy the conversion kit from Pelican 2. add labels somehow to the existing gauge face where there are already existing tic marks representing oil temps (how have you done this if you have - mainly wanting to know what font and label device you used) But, the question I am left with is this: wasn't the orginal mod done with older numeric gauges? I have found one of these for a reasonable price, but am hesitant to do it, as I cannot find a thread that discusses it, other than the new kits. It looks like I would need the older gauge's faceplate, as well as the sending unit. Is this correct? Thanks all...

You need the older gauge and a compatible sender. It's an easy upgrade. In my opinion, its the only way to do it. That's what Pelican sells. The face plate is attached to the gauge. JR | ||
