5000 mile trip in the 67, might need help at some point.
Me and the wife (Julie) are trekking out from Kansas City to the Northwest this Saturday, June 9th. It might be nice to have some folks as possible contacts along the way... seing as I did most of the work myself we're prepared to have some "issues"
![]() Our general route starts in Kansas City and on to--> Rapid City, SD --> Yellowstone area --> Through Idaho --> Into Portland ---> Up to Seattle --> then a bit south into northern California and back home via Salt lake City and into Colorado, then back home to KC. June 9th through the 24th. Fixing some last minute items, but I think I'll have her ready in time... At least I better or I'll be in trouble. ![]()

Sounds like an awesome trip in the perfect car !
Take some photos & keep us posted on your routes. Plenty of Pelicans along the way, plus some good shops in the NW if you get into a jam. Have fun !!! ![]()

Got the car done and took it out for a shakedown run.. nothing fell off yet, so we're looking good.
Yes, we plan to camp quite a bit but I imagine our early zeal for that may wear off a bit as the trip moves on. We're both good for about two nights in a row and then we need a good bed and hot shower for a few nights. Badlands are on the list for tomorrow, hear it's pretty interesting.

Excellent! I drove from MI to FL and back (3300 miles) in my '74 this past March and I had a great time. The two most important "tools" to take with you are a charged-up cell phone and a credit card with plenty of room, but I'm sure you already know that! Have a great trip!!

Denver Pelicans are always ready to host 911 travelers. Let us know what dates you might be in the area. We have good Porsche shops, good food and of course, Grady Clay. We might even show you some of our favorite local twisties (right Jim?). If you are lucky, you might even get a chance to sneak a peek at speedo's evolving 911R project in the hills west of Boulder and there are great roads in that area too.

Twisties huh. I could do that. That'll be the last leg of our trip, probably around the 21st or so. I'll update as I go.
Here's some before pics I took this morning for my insurance company.. upping my coverage a bit before this deal. ![]() ![]()

Make sure you can provide a small cushion for additional lumbar support for you and (more importantly) your wife. Porsche seats tend to be lacking in this regard.

You should turn this trip into an article for a few P magazines. Take lots of pictures and notes and when you return you could turn this into a freelance story.
What is your spare parts situation for the trip? get the premium AAA membership for the 200 mile tow. Also get some PCA chapter contacts and good P shops along your route should you need some advice/repairs. Make sure your spare and jack are in good order. Enjoy and cudos to your wife for making the trip. I could never get my wife to make that trip.

Well, she has no idea what she's in for
![]() She actually signed us up for AAA this week... worried maybe? I've got a few spares. CDI box, coil, clutch cable, plugs, alternator, regulator, and fuel pump. Jack, spare, and fix-a-flat. Thanks for the compliments, the coco mats are nice, you'll like em.

Retro-if the car is running well on your return just after Reno break off I-80 and take US 50 (the lonliest road in america) and take that through Nevada into Utah and pick up I-70 in Utah, it is much more scenic and fun than I-80. Watch out for jackrabbits. I smacked one going around 90 and it dented my front valence a bit.

We're here in Seattle, just a few miles from John Walker's place. You're welcome to stop off for a rest if need be!

Sounds good. Hopefully it won't be a "SOS" kind of visit to John's place.

How about a broadband connection for a laptop, in case you get somewhere with no wi-fi for emergency contact to the list to find you a "wrench", or parts. In 1997 I drove a 67S from SF to Seattle on the coast... it's a great drive! Have fun!! Eric multi 67S owner
