Option 474
A quick (I hope) question concerning my 1987 Coupe. Among the several options is option number 474. According to what I can find this was sport setting Billstein shocks. In looking at the shocks today while changing the oil in noted that they were painted black, not the expected green.
Anyone know how to confirm if they are Bilsteins? Also, was any other suspension upgrade included with this option? Thanks |

Make sure you scrape really well to make sure they're black! Sounds stupid, but I thought my car had black Boge shocks until I actually got in there to replace them. They were green Bilsteins, but the road grime was so thick and had been gathering for so long (they were probably the original shocks) that they looked black, even after I wiped them to check.

I have the M474 Sport Suspension on my 1983 SC. It included the factory Anti Roll Bars, with Heim Joint Drop Links front and rear, and the Blistein Sport Struts...
Front Bilsteins are definitely Green...Rear Bilsteins are Yellowish / Green! Go figure! They both are clearly marked Bilstein.... I have seen Bilsteins in Black... just no way to tell until you look very closely at the body of the Strut.
