What Does This Plug Into?

This was found tucked up in the dash on the passenger side of my 86. Any idea what this might plug into?

Maybe power or heated seat option that the car may not have come with.

Randy,
That's for the "ejection seat" option!

Hmm, that could explain the marks on the seat!

Randy,

I can't see any of the wire colors, so this is going to be an educated guess. If your car had the auto heat control, this likely would have plugged into a little box under the ashtray that contained the little fan that pulled cabin air past a sensor, to send info to the auto heat servo.

Auto Heat Controls? I really don't know whether the car had/has this or not. (Pretty sad, eh? )

Where would I find the controls to set this. I'm pretty sure there are none on the Heater Control Panel, on the dash. Would that possibly be the dial on the handbrake console, between the seats? I thought that had to do with the defroster/defogger settings.

I suppose an owners manual would be handy right about now.

Yeah, that dial on the box between the seats might be important. If it has 3 positions (plus 0, for off), it controls the fan speed for the heater blowers. If it has 9 positions, you have (or had, when it worked) automatic heating control.

You really ought to spring for an owner's manual. Ther's all kinds of useful stuff in there. Failing that, try a search of this board. It's been described over, and over, and over...

Good luck,
JR

I've been doing that since you mentioned the Auto Heat Control and as you said, I've found quite a bit. It seems Warren (Early-S-Man) is the knowledgeable one on this. His name is all over it.

FWIW, I have the 0 - 3 dial in my car.

Thanks!!!

Randy

Hey Randy,,,yeah, I took a little hiatus. Was going to sell the car cause I have my Z28 to play with, bu the wife says keep the P-car. I'm back part time. Did you know a John Deere oil filter cost more than a Porsche oil filter? Whodathunkit?

Randy,

Isn't there a part number on that connector? If so, provide it and I'll find what it belongs to.
