Unusual (2 me) Steering Wheel - Info?

I have obtained the steering wheel pictured below from a co-worker. All I know is that it came out of a Porsche, it has a Porsche crest on the horn button and the helmet / F1(?) logo on the bottom strut. It is supposed to have something to do with Emerson Fittipaldi. Anyone know any history pn this? How to determine which car it might fit?

Thanks!

Kevin G.

It's an Emerson Fittipaldi E3 wheel manufactured by Nardi to commemorate Fittipaldi's F1 World Championship from 1972.

I've got one on my '73 911E and love it!

without seeing close up pics of the hub back side, it is difficult to determine if its for a 65-73, or 74-89 911 (most likely candidates although you could buy a hub for 924, 944, 928, etc)

the leather looks pretty worn. find some saddle soap and follow the instructions- repeat often and it may bring it back somewhat. Cost to recover these professionally runs in the $275-375 range so its value as-is is diminished as such

Thanks for the information, guys.

The leather does not appear to be worn, it IS scuffed up from years of kicking around in the previous owners garage. I should be able to clear them up with the saddle soap pretty well. There are two large scratches on the upper part of the right strut that go through the paint, so I will have to respray. I am hoping that it will fit my '72, but not too worried if it doesn't. Since I only paid 10 bucks for it.

The horn button sticks, probably from gunk getting into it over the years. Can I remove it for cleaning by simply removing the allen head screws on the face?

David -

I have zipped up the music files into an 87MB file, but am not allowed to send large files out of the company system for security reasons, I suppose. I only have dial-up at home, so you will have to wait until I am at a location where I can connect on WiFi for me to send them to you.

Thanks again,

Kevin G.
