How much performance difference between OEM and modern serpentine evaporator?
Specifically, are the modern serpentine evaporators less likely to ice up?
My A/C system is working great, however, on extended drives in mid-day ATL heat & humidity my evaporator has tendency to begin icing up. Seems like I need to leave the temp control at 3 o'clock or less to avoid icing on extended use. Had temp control at about 7 o'clock yesterday on a trip to Macon. (87 degrees and super humid)...all was good then vent temps went into the 60's and I knew I was starting to ice up......backed off to lowest setting for a while and after about 5 minutes vent temps backed down to the mid 50's and had a few ice crystals shot out the vents. Thinking about upgrading the evaporator but don't want to go to the expense/effort unless someone can assure me that the icing problem will go away? If I go ahead with the evap upgrade I'll do the ProCooler at the same time. Thanks!

I can testify that the ProCooler works great. Your evaporator shouldn't be icing up at those temps. I'll let someone with more experience say why but I suspect IMUO (in my unqualified opinion) that you have air or moisture in your system.
