Carolinas Region Porschefest--anyone going?
Hey all,
was wondering how many of you local North Carolinians were going to be coming to Charlotte for the Carolinas Region Porsche fest this weekend (16-17 June)? I know Sunday's Father's day, so that may deter a few, but I'm planning to attend both Saturday and Sunday, and possibly show up Friday to see what kind of turnout we have. I've been waiting for this event for over a month. Here's hoping the weather will co-operate (not looking too good from the forecasts I've been seeing). Anyway, I'm still plenty excited!  PS Moderator: feel free to move this to the regional thread, but as no one ever responds to anything I post on there, I figured I'd start here as it'll get a lot more notice. Cheers!

PorscheFest
Hi porsche911girl... Glad to see your going to PorscheFest. I'm not able to attend this year so I'll miss you and many other friends. My kids finished school on 08 Jun and were all at Myrtle Beach...
Allison graduated this year, she's staying about 20 mins North of us with a bunch of girl friends... Taylor is out running as of this writing getting ready for XC this fall... he's already started! He made straight A's all of his freshman year so he's ready for the summer... Were returning home Saturday, re-packing and going to Greenville to attend parent / student orientation at ECU. Allison's going to study elementary education, she wants to teach K classes. Hope you enjoy PorscheFest! Wayne.

I'm going to be up that way this weekend. I don't normally get up to Charlotte before about 7:30pm so Friday would be a bit difficult, Sunday may be out of the question too, but Saturday is the concours at the Morrocroft Centre and I should make it there for that. I'm currently (as in shuld be doing it right now) trying to get the '87 Carrera insured as I'd love to take it there, but I may end up in the 'new' car.

My story sounds similar to Wayne's. We're at the beach right now too. We return home Saturday, and I fly out to Apodaca, Mexico for 2 weeks Sunday morning. I would LOVE to make it to PorscheFest! ARGH!
As Harvey (Cashflyer) said in another thread, my work is getting in the way of all this important Porsche stuff!!! Please, take lots of pics!! Mike

Update: Well this morning I went to the Concours and guess what car I saw? No, not Aubie (unfortunately) but the very same silver SC targa that I took pictures of 5 years ago. I thought that was a neat coincidence, since it was the very same car. And it was even sporting an SCWDP sticker on the back window and the owner had a SCWDP shirt on. I thought that was really cool.
Saw some great cars and took lots of pics, even was a navigator for the rally portion this afternoon. It was a photo rally so there was a set of photos for each leg of the rally and we had to find the places in the photo and answer a question for each. It was loads of fun! I got to ride shotgun in a lovely red 2005 Carrera coupe. Fun times, fun times!

Had fun getting my fingers dirty poking and prodding other peoples 911's Should be at the autocross tomorrow although probably won't be driving but my son should get a kick out of cars going around the cones - oh any chance you got those pics of my car in digi format

Katie - Sorry I didn't get your PM until it was too late. Looks like you found it OK though. I got there later and saw most of the concours cars. Actually parked in front of that yellow Carrera in one of your pictures, then followed him and a nice black turbo back to South Blvd, that was fun. Also managed to get to watch the Autocross for a while Sunday morning but unfortunately had a lot of other things to do this weekend.
You guys up there did a great job, and thanks for making us visitors so welcome!
