Mid TN Fun Run #3 - 6/23/07!! Updated info!!!
UPDATE!!!!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!UPDA TE
Yes, the run is on. Weather is looking good. I just got back from doing a pre-run. I made the whole drive along the route I have mapped out. Wow! Most of it is just plain awesome, and right here in my backyard! The roads are smooth about 98% of the trip. It took me 90 minutes to drive it. The only part that is a little pain, is getting through Lexington… not really bad, just slow. I aslo stopped at the park and talked to the Ranger for a bit. He gave me a couple of suggestions as to where we might do a group photo. Luckily, he did not describe it as in the lake! Most of this drive really is beautiful. I am thinking it may have to be a regular run. I will wait to see what you all think. There is a convenient palce to stop about 45 minutes into it that would be good in case the need for relief comes up. There is a nice little store in the middle of the park as well, with some really nice folks running it. There grandson was there and couldn't stop looking over the car and asking me questions. He is probably about 10. If he is there on Saturday, he ought to be in for a treat! I have been hearing from a lot of new names, so I hope to meet a lot of new faces on Saturday. Til then... Shane

Let's go to Mountain Home Arkansas! Or reel foot lake, Tennessee.

Jeffrey,
I have no problem with either of those two choices, but I am not sure what kind of drive they would be. I can't find anything like highway 13 at Reelfoot. And the only thing about Mtn. Home would be the distance for the guys in Nashville, if any come out. Do you have a proposed route for Reelfoot? Maybe I missed something. BTW, I never heard back from you the other day about your muffler. DId you upgrade since the first run? The car sounded awesome on our drive back to the interstate the other day... Thanks!

Yes, I installed a cat bypass and Borla sport muffler. Thank you for the compliment. I like the way it sounds too.
I have never been to reel foot lake, but it was one of the Harley club's rides, so I thought it might be interesting.

Proposed route?
OK, I have been thinking about the route for the next run and in the spirit of trying to keep things kind of centrally located between Nashville and Memphis, what do you all (those interested that is) think about meeting in Jackson, TN for brunch and then hitting the road when the gabbing starts to ebb a bit? We could meet at the Sonic off I-40 exit 80b, by the Home Depot (lots of parking right next to the Sonic, so plenty of room), and then driving the following route:
The drive should take 1.5-2 hours. We would end the route in the Natchez Trace State Park. There is easy access to I-40 exit 116 on the north end of the park, where we could part ways and head home. There could be photo op's at Pinson Mounds State Park, and at Natchez Trace State Park. I can go drive the route this week sometime and make sure the roads are decent. I don't mean to put it in my backyard so to speak, but it would be a convenient place to meet - we might even get some from north AL, north MS, east AR, and south KY. Please pass the word around and post the details from here anywhere you think would warrant it. Also, please email me if you are planning to attend or needs further details. Would one of the moderators please make this a sticky? Thanks, Shane Van Wey vanweys@charter.net

Hello all! Hope all of you are having a pleasant Monday. I wanted to send out directions to the Sonic we’ll be meeting at on the 23rd. I have had some contact me about others from there areas (Memphis or Nashville) coming up. That is great, sounds like we might get a really good turnout. If you talk to any of these people, please ask them to email so we can add them to the list. Hope the directions are easy to follow. If anyone gets lost or has questions ahead of time, feel free to call me at 731-343-1762. Please reference this link for more info on the drive: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/show...=mid+TN+Fun+Run Thanks, Shane Van Wey Here are the directions: FROM NASHVILLE Take I-40 West to Jackson. Get off on exit 82B heading north. Take the Vann Drive exit (first one). This will curve to right to a 4way stop. Take a right. Go to first stop light and take another right. This is Vann Drive. Follow this under the overpass and get into the left lane. At the light just past Perkins and Ruby Tuesday, take a left. You will see Sonic right there in front of you on the left as you are turning. Look for a bunch of guys with silly grins on their faces! FROM MEMPHIS Take I-40 East to Jackson. Get off on exit 82B heading north. Take the Vann Drive exit (first one). Take a left at the bottom of the hill (get in the left-most lane). You are now on Vann Drive. Follow this under the overpass. At the light just past Perkins and Ruby Tuesday, take a left. You will see Sonic right there in front of you on the left as you are turning. Look for a bunch of guys with silly grins on their faces! FROM CORINTH, TUPELO, etc. Take US45 north to Jackson. When you get to downtown Jackson, follow the US45 Bypass route north. Stay on US45 Bypass until you drive over I-40. Just over I-40, take the Vann Drive exit (first one). __________________ 1983 Ruby Red Cabriolet Mid TN Fun Run #3 - 6/23/07 (email me for more info)

Hmmm. This Jersey Pelican will be in Memphis on the 22nd..of course with a rental car. I was actually planning a road trip to visit Mr. JD in lynchburg since I've already visited every blues honky tonk from Clarksdale to Memphis. I might just tag along in my rental!

Hey Ron,
I am in Memphis. If you don't mind blaring rock and roll music, you can ride with me! Shane, I will bring my camera for the photography.

As long as the weather holds out and we are still running OK at the plant, I will finally make one (if you don't mind having a 914 in the mix
).

We'd love to have a 914 in the group! Just checked weather.com again and they say partly cloudy and smokin hot (97).
