Any NE area Pelicanites going to German Car Day at Larz Anderson Museum, Brookline?
June 17Th – German Car Day: Sponsored by the local Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Opel and Porsche clubs.
10am to 2pm: German Car Day brings together various car marques, owners and admirers to share and enjoy each marques similarities and differences. All German cars are welcome regardless of age or condition. With over 150 vehicles in attendance, there is something for every enthusiast. Show highlights include 1957 Porsche Speedster, several pre-war Mercedes-Benz, a pre-war Auto Union and more. Join automobile writer and humorist Ezra Dyer, as he discusses his latest antics for Esquire and Automobile Magazines. From machine gunning a 1984 Cadillac Eldorado to drag racing a Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG, Mr. Dyer's stories are sure to make you laugh and rethink what your car can do. Registration is $15 per German show car. Directions: Located in Larz Anderson Park, 15 Newton Street, Brookline MA 02445 MAPQUEST Directions from Boston/North Shore Take Route 93 South to Storrow Drive. Take the Fenway exit. Follow Outbound /Riverway signs to Boylston Street (taking a right off the ramp). Boylston St. will merge onto Brookline Ave. Follow Brookline Ave. to the Riverway/Jamaica Way intersection. Turn left onto the Riverway (this will turn into the Jamaica Way). You will go through the intersection with Perkins Street (Max Warburg Sq.) and Jamaica Pond will appear on your right. Go 1/2 way around the rotary (Kelley Circle) and at the lights turn right onto Pond Street. Pond Street will turn into Newton Street. The museum is located in Larz Anderson Park on the right about a 1/2 mile from the rotary. Directions from West (Rte. 128/ I-95) Take Rte. 128/ I-95 to Rte. 9 towards Boston. You will eventually pass the Chestnut Hill Mall on your left. Six lights after the Mall, you come to a major intersection (approx. 5 miles from Rte 128/ Rte. 9 intersection). Take a right onto Lee St. (If you pass the reservoir on Rte. 9 you’ve gone to far). Follow Lee to it’s end. This is Newton St. Turn left onto Newton St. Stay to the right around the bend. The museum is in Larz Anderson Park which is 1/4 mile on the left. Directions from Boston/South Shore Take Rte. 3/ I-93 to exit 11. Granite Ave/Ashmont. Follow Granite Ave north to second traffic light, then turn left onto Rte. 203. Follow Rte. 203 (also called Gallivan and later Morton Blvd.) to the rotary where the Arborway and Rte. 203 meet. Follow the Arborway for 1/2 mile, merging left with traffic. You will come to a third rotary (Kelley Circle). Follow the rotary 3/4 of the way around to the light, effectively reversing your direction. Turn right onto Pond Street which becomes Newton Street. The museum is located in the park on the right 1/2 mile from the rotary. You have gone too far if Jamaica Pond is on your left.

Andrew - Thanks for keeping us New England folks aware of the various local car shows. It is more helpful than you probably realize. Unfortunately, I missed the one at Limerock. But I'll be sure to attend this one.

Andrew, thanks very much for letting us know about this excellent show. I would have had no idea about it if you hadn't given the heads up. Fortunately, my first attempt at using the camera produced results...

Thanks for meeting up with us and thanks for having a camera.
You caught a picture of my favorite car at the show. The 1955 190SL in primer. Car had a super rare period correct factory engine "hop up kit" NICE Thanks again, Andrew

Andrew, I'm glad I got to see your car on the road. Last time I saw it, the car was in pieces. You've really customized it tastefully. I only wish my new digicam had a better auto-focus feature - or perhaps I should say I wish I knew how to use it better. My pics look a bit fuzzy. I'm sure it will be better next time.
So Andrew, when are you going to get that car sideways? Those tires looked way too pristine and pretty. I may need to get you and Tim out to drive my car at autocross so I can "slip you the needle"... ![]()

Het Andrew,
How did you find the crowd response after the change in vehicles. Such different beasts. I would bet more questions about the new one due to it's customization. Car is the nads. You have to let me drive it one of these days. Janus, thanks for the pictures. Always keeping us in the loop. Chris, there is another Brookline show in September I think. Porsche specific. David

RPMClassic-
I was the guy that asked you how you get to 2.5 liters... Did you guys see the green 356 Carrera 2? Is that the car in the current issue of Excellene (the 'Three Kings' article), IIRC?

Jim, The car looks absolutely fantastic and its great to finally see her in true form. I really think the paint turned out awesome. All your suspension parts should arrive this week so you can get to that autoX and track event kicking some tail with that beauty. Please keep us posted on the car's progress.
