Lets start some trouble.
Who is the best mechanic for 911 sc's if you draw a line from Indy to Louisville to Cincinatti to Dayton and end at Indy again? Close to this area also counts. CIS experience counts extra as would tuning Webers if the CIS is eliminated. Cost matters but quality and honesty is king. How about a rating scale from 1 to 10. The more answers the better. Thanks Pelicans. |

Don't have a good grasp on rating since I do most of my own spanner turning.

Wow, big response. Either that makes most of us DIY or a sad reflection on mechanics in area. LOL did you get any private responses?

Call Paul Ross in Paragon, IN. Paul is a semi-retired Indycar mechanic that works on old air cooled 911's on the off season (which is every month but May). He knows these cars very well.

Thanks for lead, Brian. Have you ever got your headers dyno tested? I've picked up a 3.6 for an early car and thought your setup looks nice.

Yes but results follow engine modifications. Gains are in midrange and top end.
I guess Superxman found a mechanic?

IN mechanic
Until I saw the recent post I figured that Farmer was the only Porsche mechanic around other than a dealer. I do prefer independents though. I'm not going to need one till fall when I accumulate a little more cash.
Thanks for the responces from Rarley and Luke. All things being equal I would lean toward an Indy car mechanic as I've known several over the years. I have done machining for several teams and gained respect for the guys that work on Indy cars. I'd welcome responces from others if they have a mechanic to recommend. Could help someone else. Thanks |
