fuel filter to carbs

I'm getting ready to put the engine back in after doing a conversion to Webers and engine compartment detailing. I have a couple small type filters that will be placed before each carb inlet. I'm not very convinced that these filters will do the best job. I would like to keep the original bosh filter before the pressure regulator and then have the filters before each carb also.
1. Are there any drawbacks to keeping the original filter?
2. For the life of me, I can't find a connection to the original filter to connect the fuel lines to. I will be using barbed fittings but they have to screw into the filter. Any advice? (One fitting which does work could be robbed from the removed accumulator but the other end doesn't work)
Thanks for any help!

When my '74 was converted to Webers last December, Tab Tanner left the Bosch fuel filter and ran the fuel line from the fuel filter to the fuel pressure regulator. I've put 5000 miles on the car since with no fuel problems.

You could use the original Bosch filter if you are using the Bosch CIS fuel pump. For LP applications, there are better ones. I prefer the Racor110a Fuel filter/water separator units.

If you use the CIS filter, simply cut the line on the outlet side of the filter and push the hose on (clamp it, of course) going to your FPR.

I plan to run the CIS pump which is why I believe the original filter will be best because of the pressure. (As a side note, these filter manufacturers basically give zero information regarding pressure, flow rate, filtration rating) My filter outlet barbed tube which originally went to the CIS is really small compared to the fuel line size needed for the carbs. My CIS had the plastic hoses from the filter and from the fuel distributor. I'm concerned the connection may leak should I clamp a large hose to this small tube. Guess I'll give it a try.

While not a street setup, here is what I have for my webbers.

Fuel Cell
Electric Holley Pump
Fram Fuel Filter
Holley Pressure Regulartor
PMO Fuel rails to the Carbs.

I'm using AN line for all the lines. I chosse not to put the additional filters at the rails, and it's been fine for me so far.
