I am having a great deal of trouble fitting new shocks to the front end of my 77 Carerra 3.0
I have Boge Struts and ordered a set of Bilstien Sport shocks for it. I was sent 039-115’s which I am told by Type 911 is the HD version and not the sport. However a guy on Pelican has told me that they are indeed sports but for a 85-89 car. Basically the problem is that the shocks fit inside the strut but I cannot put the big gland nut on and secure it by screwing it into the internal threads of the Boge strut. The shock body sits level with the top of the strut and this means the gland nut doesn’t even touch the internal threads to locate. Ok so let’s look at the strut. It’s a black Boge strut with internal thread, which requires a gland nut with a male external thread to fit. Boge Part number: 102 11 32 4730 Porsche PN: 911 341 041 00 Can anyone identify the year of this strut? Is it 74-84 or 85-89??? My car is a 77 but the struts may have been changed. Please help as this is driving me mad and my car is on stands and NOT being driven by me.

Re: SOS: Please help me ID my Boge struts
Quote:
Pelican gives 911-341-041-04-OEM Boge Strut Assembly, 911 (1986-89), Left Brand: Genuine Porsche 911-341-042-04-OEM Boge Strut Assembly, 911 (1986-89), Right Brand: Genuine Porsche The earlier (74-77) Boge struts have a part # of 911-341-043 & 911-351-044. Bilstein struts have a part # of 911-341-041-33 and 911-341-042-33, according to both Pelican and PET. 911-341-041-03 & 911-341-042-03 are Boge struts for an '85 MY only, says PET. And 911-341-041-10 & 911-341-042-10 would be Koni's for a '77 MY with S calipers. So it looks like it all hinges on the last 2 digits of the strut number - the one you have as "00"... Sorry, this probably doesn't help much. The Boge part number is actually a Sachs part number format, but I can't find any exact matches on the web catalog - it doesn't appear to be the 86-89 part: www.zf-trading.com
