Another Yellow Wire Search
Replaced the starter in my 88. The rebuilt starter (obtained from our host) has a spade connector for the yellow wire as opposed to the "closed loop" , stud and nut connector on the original starter. I clipped off the loop and crimped on the supplied spade connector and attached to the spade connector on the new starter and all is well - car starts like a rocket.
However, I don't like the crimped spade connector on a critical component and will get a spade connector I can solder to the yellow wire for a more secure connection. The question I have is the actual route of the yellow wire. The yellow wire and the red alternator wire are in a brown colored sleeve that goes from the starter area to the engine compartment, through a grommet. The grommet is on about the centerline of the motor. Looking from the engine compartment side, I can see it. Where does it go once it gets into the engine compartment? I'm looking for a convenient place to splice a new piece of yellow wire (with the soldered spade connector) to the original yellow wire. Thanks tk |

The yellow wire runs through the 14 pin connector on the rear of the relay panel (left rear of the engine compartment. Below is a picture of the harness with the relay panel removed and the wire cover opened. You can see the yellow wire buried in the middle. It connects into the main harness on the engine.
