what is the cost of widening 16x6s into 16x8s or 9s

i have a set of four 16x 6s kicking around
and am comtemplating widening them out with bolt on lips....
any suggestions? and what is my expected costs for buying the lips....
do both sides of the 6 have to be cut off....or will one side do?

My understanding is the 16" wheels are made into 17" wheels.

So this means you have to buy another pair of 17's or have two different sizes on your car which a few here have done.

With the limited availability of 16" tires, I'd go for 17s.

Figure about $100-125 per wheel to cut the center out & drill. Go here for rim prices, http://www.bobwoodmantires.com/wheels/wheels17.html
Add about $80 per wheel for wheel gasket, bolts, nuts, and bell washers, all available from Woodman tires. About an hr. per wheel to assemble. This doesn't include refinishing the wheel.
