POR-15 topcoat primer

I know that a lot of discussions about POR-15 have filled the archives and I've search and read a lot of these. I've painted my recently installed suspension pan w/ POR-15 with the impression that I could just put the Stoneguard on top of the cured POR-15. Obviously, I didn't do my homework as the company indicates that other primers can be used over tacky POR-15, but once hardened, I must use their Tie-Coat or Self-etching primers.

I was hoping to get this done this weekend and not have to wait another week to get in their special primers. My question is has anyone found a primer that I can buy off the shelf that works on cured POR?

You could scuff sand it and then stonegaurd it, otherwise the POR is too smooth for anything to adhere to.

+1 Just rough up the finish and paint it.

Thanks for the input.

I had thought about sanding the surface, but I wasn't sure if there wasn't something fundamentally incompatable between the two "paints" or if the primer just provided some tooth for the stoneguard to bite into. I am pretty naive about paints and finishes and there seems to be a million opinions on the forum.

Duplicolor Self-Etching primer for 7$/can at NAPA seems to have held on to cured POR-15 on my projects.

Nader-

I got a couple of cans of the dupicolor self-etching primer and used it for my suspension pan and gas tank. Thanks for the suggestion. I used some 120 grit sandpaper to rough it up a bit and it looks like I got good adhesion. I managed to get my Stoneguard sprayed on by the end of the day.
