EOS found in Copperas Cove, TX
Had a few friends around the country make a few calls to thier local GM dealers.
I scored 34 bottles yesterday...granted, the dealer in Olympia, WA raped me for $20 per bottle... ![]() Anyways, a friend just called. A dealer in Copperas Cove, Texas, has nine bottles at about $12 each. Dealer is caled "Connell" - number is 1-866-604-7263 if anyone wants to grab it.

Why so desired?? What's so special about it?

My thoughts exactly. And isn't there something else that can be used in its place?

There's millions of dealerships that sell EOS.
I just bought a case for around $8 per bottle. Could something else be used in its place? Probably. But EOS is desired because it's a GM product and everyone knows exactly how much zinc and phos it has. I use it in my flat tappet car, which is pre-smog and has no cat. But if your car has a cat, I'd be careful about how much EOS (or other zinc) you add. Also, if your car doesn't have a flat tappet cam, I'm not sure how much you really need to add zinc or phos. |

That's too bad. I just bought a case a few weeks ago.
But as long as there are flat tappet cam'd cars around (and there will be for a long, long time, the millions of SBC's, for example, aren't going away soon), there will be substitutes for EOS. All the cam makers will make sure of that. For example: http://www.cranecams.com/?show=browseParts&lvl=2&prt=15&action=partSpec&partNumber=99003-1 "Crane Cams Super Lube Break-In Concentrate (8 oz. bottle) is an anti-wear additive formulated with a high concentration of special zinc dithiophosphate to provide sustained protection against cam lobe and lifter scuffing and wear. This oil supplement is to be added to the engine oil for the initial break-in period after the installation of a new camshaft and lifters." It's just a matter of someone (like cnavarro on this board) testing these to determine the exact zinc, etc. levels in them. They are probably very similar to EOS. |
