1970 911/01 Gearbox
I need help finding the correct pieces to mate this unusual gearbox up to a 1969T 2.0 engine.
I have been told due to the limited run on this gearbox I need a "special flywheel, clutch. pressure plate, clutch cable," and so on. Thanks for the help.

70-77 flywheel, 70-86 pressure plate, 70-71 disc, 70-71 release fork, pivot bolt assembly and throwout bearing, and a 70-71 clutch cable and cable end fitting that hooks in the ear on the trans.
or just use all the 70-71 internals in a 69 case and use the 69 clutch and flywheel.

John,
Thanks for the reply. The gearbox I have is low mileage so I don't want to pop the internals out into another case. Are the output flanges with the four through bolts (long), two bolts (short) special to this gearbox as well? I have a later set of drive flanges (thanks Tony) to switch out so I can use the later axles with six long through bolts. I was also told that I should upgrade the "simplified diff" and the input shaft. What would be the reason for that?

John has it right on.
One significant difference is the position of the clutch release arm pivot relative to the input shaft centerline. There is a significant difference between 2.0 ('69) and 2.2 ('70-'71). The alternative John is proposing is using the smaller 215 mm clutch with the original ’69 transmission. The '70 and later was the larger 225 mm clutch. Both John and I have written significantly on this subject. A Pelican search will find all that. Best, Grady

John, Pelican onephat356,
A ’70-’71 type 911/01 is VERY difficult to fit in a SWB 911. I have done it on my own 911 (’68) but it is very complicated. How about some more details? The issues are: Axle connection (big deal). Clutch, another big deal Clutch operation including at the pedal assembly. and a few simpler issues. There are better alternatives to a 911/01 with more favorable gearing. Best, Grady

Grady,
There you are. I tried to send you a PM but your box was full. I got the 911/01 for a good deal from a friend so I thought why not put into my 68 roller. If the end result is no different than putting a 901 or 902 in than I will start looking for a different unit. I thought the box was kind of nifty due to the rarity now I see why.
