Installing momo hub - quick question

I was able to get the new hub on the splines to a point, just enough to get the nut on. Is using the nut to draw the hub all the way in a valid method?

Todd

Anytime your are adding a new steering wheel and 'adapter hub' assembly, I think one should measure the depth of the splines in the new adapter and the splined portion of your existing shaft. This is just to be certain you have purchased/been provided the correct adapter. The nut should NOT just barely start on, you need several threads and it should pull down securely. Steering: Not a part of the car you want to fail!

Snug and Tight But Easy to Pull Out......

Todd,

Your Momo hub adaptor should slide nice and easy on the steering column. If you have to use force just to get it in, the spline fitment is questionable. A light tapping maybe applied but I'll be very careful not to damage the steering column's splines.

Now that you have the hub almost in, the splines matched. It just a question of fitment. Try to use some lubricant and wiggle it down with some downward pressure. You should be OK. Apply some anti-seize to prevent the hub from sticking to the column and torque the nut accordingly.

Mine have all been sort of tight. Not hammer tight, but it takes some effort to install. There have been a few methods for removal posted here and they all require more than just pulling the wheel/hub off by hand. So, I conclude that they don't go on real easy either. Getting it started square is part of the trick. Definitely use some grease.
