Factory radio/cassette in 69?
I have a 69 912 (please allow the cylinder challenged to pose a queston here) and just received my COA showing that my car came with a factory installed "radio with cassette player". I have never seen such a thing and I have seen a lot of Porsches in my time. In fact, I thought radios were a dealer installed option. I am thinking it must have been 8-track because I think the smaller stereo cassettes did not appear until the mid-70's. Can anyone describe one? Is there a picture in any sales literature of the day? More importantly, where might I find one if I ever figure out what I am looking for?

This is not a definitive answer, but is from my own experience. I agree with you--I don't believe combo radio/cassette players were available for autos in 1969. I tried to find one in the early 70's to fit into my VW bus (don't ask) and had to use the only unit I could find, an Ampex cassette player, as a separate unit. Everything on the market was the 8 track, at that time, and certainly in 1969. I do believe the COA is in error, and from what I've seen posted about COAs that is not too uncommon.

As I think about it, error is a possible explanation. There was a delay in processing it because they were having trouble "translating an option" and had to ask for help in Germany. Since the radio/cassette is the only unusual option, it could be that the code in question matched a later year radio cassette code. Think I will inquire. Thanks
